TV grab from the movie War Games

One of my favourites. I think I must have been taking digital photos of the TV while watching War Games. What you are looking at is one photo, capturing a transition between two scenes of the movie. Below is that magic scene from the movie when the WOPR computer ‘learns’ that no one wins in a nuclear war.

Nintendo ON console

Oh how I do love theoretical game consoles. This is a few years old now, but still very impressive. It is a real shame that the majority of comments I have found online focus around the piece of work being a hoax, rather than ackowledging the amount of work that went into the clip. And from what I have heard, this particular video was a rushed second attempt!

The R2D2 Projection Unit

Hands down the coolest piece of tech I have seen in the last 10 years. Being totally wireless, the unit can glide around your floor while you give it commands via a Millenium Falcon remote! Check out the reveiw and video at gizmodo.com

The Nokia 3610. Hands down the best cell I have ever used.

The Nokia 3610 has to be the best phone I have ever used. Nothing fancy, just simple, durable and my god did it go the distance. I had this phone for about a year and a half until Ni (my girl-friend at the time) gifted me another Nokia, which was still a great phone… but to this day I still regret letting this one go. Many cell phone companies these days are trying to pack as much as they can into each model, but in my opinion, good battery life, easy press buttons and a screen that you can see in high noon will always be front runner. The other thing that Nokia have had over their competitors for a long time is simple, intuitive navigation. I am always surprised at how many buttons are needed on cell phones these days. I remember talking to Dan about how many button presses it would take the user to arrive at the ‘Create new message’ screen. It took him about 13 or 14 different key strokes. I did it in 4. However, now that I think about it… he was using a Nokia too! Haha… Anyway, if anyone in New Zealand knows where I could pick one of these up, please leave message :)
